THE RING FINGER CHALLENGE My Response to @relearnhq … Question: Is gagging the most effective response to sin? I don’t remember a single time when Jesus gagged in the face of sin in the Bible. I’m asking because as a Christian I’m struck that the rally cry of ostracism and revulsion seems to aggregate more support than actual forgiveness, healing, and salvation. Ask yourself this, what is the log in your eye? Is it a pornography addiction? Or maybe an issue with hypocrisy (read Matthew 23, the whole chapter)? Since Jesus promised to bring everything from darkness into the light, what is everyone going to find out about you? Do you hate in private but love in public? Are you genuinely good friends with Jesus? I’m just asking because we as Christians seem more often too focused on identifying sin, than healing it. So, maybe if you honestly don’t have a cure for sin, you should sit down and shut up until you do. Being grossed out by sin is not the gospel, it’s the message of the enemy. The gospel of Jesus Christ is that while we were still sinning he died for us and paid for our sins so that no one could boast. This post sounds an awful lot like a boast to me. Either you have an answer or you don’t. Just trying to keep your hands clean isn’t holy or just or righteous or good. It’s actually the road to destruction. So, rather than praying “thank God I’m not like that sinner” try instead “have mercy on me God, for I am a sinner”.
