God is Calling

Happy Child Eating Ice CreamGod is calling.

You have a special purpose that is unique to you.  No one else can accomplish it.  If you don’t do it, no one else will.  You are qualified.  You are capable.  You are ready.

God is calling.

Your calling may be a profession.  It may be a mission.  It may be a relationship.  It may be a business.  It could be a family or a connection.  You may be especially skilled or have a unique opportunity to serve.  You may have access to resources or an abundance of time.  Whatever is unique about who you are, where you are, what you have to offer, how you can serve, and when you are available is an indication of how God may be calling you.

You could be an evangelist, a teacher, a coach, a missionary, a leader, a mentor, a manager, a researcher, a builder, a designer, a motivator, or a support.  You might be the title role in one mission, a supporting cast member in another purpose, and an extra for some other cause.  You may be called to relationship in one context and mission in another.  Investment in one business and management in another.  Teaching in one group and listening in another.

You have a core purpose that is central in all of your life’s callings, but you also have the opportunity to realize God’s purpose in every experience, every relationship, and every connection that comes your way.

Whether you are living the blessed life already, or are looking to discover it for the first time today, God is looking to show you His goodness in a new way today.  Your purpose is to live the life that God has prepared for you, to experience the blessings that He has promised, and make a difference in a way that is unique to you.

Sometimes the very things that challenge you the most are the greatest opportunities to bring your core purpose to the table and make the greatest difference in a situation that without you would not be blessed.

Jesus explained this to His disciples as a way to prepare them for His death and resurrection.  As He was teaching them one day, Jesus told them,

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is.  From now on, you do know Him and have seen Him!”

One of His twelve disciples, Philip, challenged by what he understood Jesus to be saying, said,

“Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.”

And it is Jesus’ reply that is the one of the most striking in all of scripture,

“Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me. Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or at least believe because of the work you have seen me do.  I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!” – John 14 (NLT)

What are you facing today?  Where are you looking to discover God’s goodness?  What are you believing for today?  Healing?  Restoration?  Fulfillment?  Success?  Abundance?  Prosperity?  Intimacy?  Support?  Peace?  Joy?  Contentment?  Accomplishment?  Love?  Insight?  Enlightenment?  Vision?  Purpose?  Wisdom?  Perception?  Experience?  Strength?

Jesus said,

“You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it”

If you know who your God is.  If you come into that relationship which is closer than just friendship.  If you accept that you are part of the family of God, that you were born on purpose for a purpose — that you are a child of God.  If you are ready to step into your inheritance and live the blessed life, the whole life, the eternal life that God has in store for you today, then Jesus says,

“Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!”

God is not holding back.  God is calling you to a greater purpose, a greater life, a greater mission, a greater experience of blessing.

You are chosen.  You are called.  You are gifted, empowered, strengthened, inspired, loved — you are uniquely qualified to make a difference where you are today.

If you are ready to step into the destiny that God has in store for you today, then start asking, start expecting, start believing for everything that God has promised, God has declared, God has planned.

“Everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.” – Luke 11 (NLT)
