Facing Opposition

Womens Devotional Bible StudyDo not be mistaken or surprised. You will face opposition. You will experience struggle. You will face tough choices. You will walk through darkness, challenge, and fear. You will experience defeat, set backs, and obstacles. You will have hard times.

Jesus said,

“Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” – John 16

“I have overcome the world.”

In the face of opposition, Jesus is calling you to press onward.

In the presence of struggle, Jesus is asking you to step into the arena.

In the moment of decision, Jesus is commanding you to rise up.

And when you walk through the dark, the challenge, the fear, the defeat, the set backs, the obstacles, and the hard times — Jesus is causing you to overcome.

“I have overcome the world.”

When I am putting my children to bed each night, we read from the Bible, we talk about it, and we pray.  We thank God for His promises, His blessings, His goodness, His forgiveness, His love and His grace.  Whatever we have faced that day and whatever we are facing tomorrow — we gather as a family and we open our hearts to the heart of the one who created us and pause with a moment of joy and confidence in His presence.  Then I give each of my children a hug and tell them, “Good night.  I love you.  God bless you.  Sweet dreams.  Sleep well.”

There are many things that happen in your life that you cannot control.  There are many circumstances you cannot influence.  There are some people you just can’t reach.  There are some situations that will not go in your favor.  And yet, God is asking you to seek every opportunity, capitalize on every moment, embrace every chance to live in the victory and the eternal life He designed you to enjoy.  Every night is a good night, because God is going to bless you tomorrow.  Every moment is an opportunity to embrace the fact that love is real and available.  Every day you are a step closer to the realization of the vision that God is planting in your heart.  God’s promises are not a question of if, God’s promises are just a question of when.

Right now, God’s favor is seeking you out.

Right now, God’s goodness is working on your behalf.

Right now, God’s plans are taking shape.

Right now, God’s grace is flowing over you, through you, and surrounding you.

Right now, God’s love is giving you life, a future, and a hope.

Right now, God’s promises are pressing to be received, realized, accepted, and accomplished.

Right now, the creator of heaven and earth, the master of all things, the king of all kings, and the ultimate authority and source of all existence on earth and in heaven is offering everything that He has to save you.

You.  God wants to save you.

Jesus said,

“If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.” – Matthew 18

So, if you haven’t already, it is time for you to find a believer to pray with every day and/or every night.

Pray for love.  Pray for peace.  Pray for clarity.  Pray for answers.  Pray for blessing.  Pray for forgiveness.  Pray for healing.  Pray for restoration.  Pray for others.  Pray for you.  Pray for this world.

Pray for the kingdom of God to come in you, for you, through you, and because of you.

Pray with your whole heart, holding nothing back.  Leave it all on the field.  Fully commit.  Step out with confidence that God hears you, God knows you, God loves you, and God is already moving powerfully in your life right here, right now.

Yes, here on earth you will have many trials, hard times, challenges, and sorrows.  The enemy will keep coming at you to capture, stop, oppress, enslave, silence, and oppose you — but you … you pray believing.  Pray knowing that God is for you.  Pray knowing that God is building you up and strengthening you.  Pray knowing that God is elevating you and promoting you.  Pray knowing that God is healing you and restoring you.  That God is showering you with blessing and embracing you with purpose.  That God is commissioning you and training you, coaching you and mentoring you.  That God is preparing you for a great destiny and empowering you to start living your eternal life of joyful abundance today.

You are gifted.  You are chosen.  You are the one God is looking for. You are the one God will use to change your life and bless your world.  You are the one Jesus was talking about, when He said,

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” – Matthew 5

What are you waiting for?  It’s time to start speaking life, speaking grace, speaking love, speaking joy, speaking healing, and speaking salvation into your life and the lives of others.

You are a light for this world.  You are a treasure that can no longer be hidden.  You are a child of God.

If you are ready to change your life forever, simply pray this prayer,

“Lord Jesus, as of right now, I am turning from my sins.  They are not going to define me any more because I am putting my trust in you and accepting your grace.  Come into my heart.  Come into my soul.  Come into my mind.  Come into my life.  I make you my Lord and Savior by the power of your name, Jesus Christ.  Amen.”

If you prayed that prayer, you were born again.  Not by a physical birth, but in your spirit and in your soul, in your mind and even in your body as the Spirit of God came in and you embraced the one who created you and accepted His life as your own.

You have been set free.  You have been made new.  You have been given a choice.  How are you going to join God in blessing the world and the people within your reach today?
