Fruit of the Spirit

Applicants Not Supplicants

Fruit of the SpiritGod is not interested in belittling you.  God is not interested in you belittling yourself.

Everything — EVERYTHING that God has in store for you is good.

Every plan that God has for you is a blessing.  Every thought that God has for you is refulgent with prosperity.  Every promise that God has spoken over your life is abundant in joy, peace, health, fulfillment, success, accomplishment, intimacy, well being, and love.

Do you pray in full acknowledgement of this fact?  Or are you coming before God like you expect Him to ignore, deny, and dismiss you?

Do you respect and accept what He believes about you?  Or are you still caught up in what you believe about yourself?

Do you expect the blessing? Or are you still just wishing something would change?

“The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth.  They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry.  It is the same with My word.  I send it out, and it always produces fruit.  It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.  You will live in joy and peace.” – Isaiah 55 (NLT)

You will live in joy and peace.  God is looking to accomplish great things in you.  God is not willing to settle for anything less than His best for you.

“Yeah, sure.  But remember, it’s me we’re talking about.”

Yes.  It is you I’m talking about.  God is looking to bless you.

“OK, I guess I could ask God and see what happens.”

That’s not enough.

God is not looking for supplicants wishing for a better outcome and waiting for something to change.

God is looking for applicants pursuing a better outcome and stepping out in faith to accomplish something great with everything that He is ready to provide.

“But Steve, that means you are asking me to move before God does!”

Nope.  I guarantee you that God is already moving to bless you.  That boat has sailed.  You can’t possibly start moving before God is already in motion.

“Well then, why haven’t I seen these blessings you are telling me are coming my way?”

Because you haven’t said, “Yes”.

“Are you kidding me?  My life would be so much better if God would just bless it like you are talking about.”

Okay.  Then what’s stopping you from accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior and God right now and stepping into His grace for your life today?

“Well that’s a different question.”

Is it?  The blessing is waiting for you.  The abundant prosperity and goodness of God is pressing in to be accepted.  So what are you waiting for?

“Because it won’t change my circumstances.  You can’t heal me.  You can’t undo what’s happened to me.  You can’t tell me Jesus is the answer.  It’s just too easy.  It’s just words. If it were that simple I wouldn’t be where I am today.”

Are you ready to accept what God has in store for you?  Do you want the blessing?  What’s so hard to believe?  It’s just like you said — saying Yes is easy.

What you have to realize is that it is a lot more than just words.  It is your will.  It is your heart.  It is your life.  Are you ready to want something more?  Truly, deeply — are you ready to be something more?  Are you ready to step into the light of God’s goodness and start receiving everything that He has planned, promised, and spoken over your life?

It is just a few small words away.

“Jesus I want you. I’m ready to go where you send me.”

I want you.  I choose you.  I’m ready.  Let’s do this thing.

You are my God.  You are my savior.  You can be my friend.  I’m saying “Yes”.

Yes, you can save me.  Yes, you are the way.  Yes, you are the answer.  Yes, you desire good for me.  Yes, you are my savior.  Yes, you are opening up opportunities I didn’t have before.  Yes, you are ready to bless me.  Yes, you believe in me.  Yes, you can work a change in me.  Yes, my life is coming into a new season with you.  Yes, you are providing for me right now.  Yes, you are choosing me to make a difference.

Yes, I am your child — chosen, loved, empowered, gifted, well able, healthy, restored, and abundantly, overflowing, above, and beyond full of your spirit, your grace, and your life.  I am the light of the world because of you.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”  — from A Return to Love, by Marianne Williamson

What you believe about yourself is one of the greatest reflections of what you believe about God.  If you are full of shame, guilt, fear, doubt, anxiety, hesitation, and questions, you haven’t yet accepted what God believes about you.

It’s not about whether you think you are up to the challenge, it’s about the fact that God chose you.

It’s not about whether you think you are ready, it’s about the fact that God is offering you the opportunity to rise.

It’s not about whether you estimate it is possible, it’s about the fact that God has said it will be so.

God’s promises have been spoken over your life from before you were born.  You were chosen before you created.  You were selected to fulfill.  You were created on purpose, for a purpose.  You are a child of God.  You are destined to accomplish.

You are more powerful than you can imagine.  You are more capable than you have yet considered.  You have greater influence than you have noticed.  You are healthier, stronger, more intelligent, more insightful, more perceptive, more compassionate, more empathetic, more caring, more loving, and more prepared than you have realized.

You are the light of the world — like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.  No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket.  Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” – Matthew 5 (NLT)

“Yes.  Jesus, I’m yours.  Save me.  I’m ready.  I want this.  Let’s change the world.”

Now that’s what I’m talking about!  Get ready.  There is a flood of blessings coming your way.  God is not holding anything back and now you aren’t either!
